Custom medications

Medicloud comes with the medications of decoction pieces, 農本方, 海天, 漢方, 綠色仁和 and 順天堂, and a clinic switches on the brands it uses under Drug suppliers in its clinic settings. When the clinic uses another manufacturer’s product, it can add the medication itself in Drug Info (藥物設定). Once saved, it can be searched while prescribing, and stock-in, stock-taking and low-stock warnings work as for any other medication.

Adding a custom medication

1. In the side menu, open Drug Info (藥物設定) and click Create (新增) at the top right.
2. Fill in the name, the English name and the brand, which are required; the Latin name, net weight (g), product number and Hong Kong registration number are optional. Switch on Herbal piece (飲片藥物) for a decoction piece.
3. For another name, such as a short name, add it in Chinese under Alias (別名); the + at the top right of Alias adds another. On saving, Medicloud adds the Mandarin and Cantonese initials of the name and of the Chinese aliases, so typing the initials finds the medication when prescribing.
4. Under Ingredient (成份), first fill in Per grams of drug (每幾克藥) from the label: 10 for a label that says every 10 g contains, and 1 for a single-herb powder or a decoction piece. Then click the select button, search for the ingredient in the dialog and click it, click outside the dialog to return, and fill in Raw herb (生藥(克)), the grams of raw herb in that many grams of the medication. Leave it empty when it is unknown, and the prescription shows that it is unknown. The + at the top right of Ingredient adds another ingredient.

5. Click Save (儲存) in the menu on the right.

After saving

The custom medication joins the clinic’s Drug Inventory (藥物清單) at once, switched on, so it can be prescribed and stocked. To change its details later, open it in Drug Info and click Edit (修改); to stop using it, switch off Active (啟用) in Drug Inventory.
